In class we were introduced to "the rocky horror picture show". At the beginning of the show were introduced to a Usherette who sings a rubdown of the show being a parody about famous B-Movies a then touching on the story a bit which is about two sweethearts Brad and Janet, who are to be married go off to see the man (Dr Scott their professor) who started off their relationship but run into situation when their car crashes and are forced to search for a phone at the nearest place available being a mansion hidden in the woods. However during the time there they encounter an unusual crowd of people who force them to test their love and change their lives for the better or worse.

Janet: Is a character who's meant to represent the Ideal young women in the 60's and 70's who get married young and have less of an option but to stay at home and look after the to be children. Though at first she seems certain that Brad is her loyal companion and lover she is soon tested by her fetish  for Rocky. 

Brad: Is meant to represent the ideal male or man of the 60's and 70's who consider themselves the dominate and sensible person in the relationship. Yet in the show all his morals and behaviours are challenged by Frank and Rocky relationship with Janet. 

Phantoms: Seem to be Frank's devotees or assistance's  who help around in the castle and like to fool around with Brad and Janet at the start and the rest of the cast throughout.

Riff Raff: Is one of Frank's trusty companion in his gang. Riff Raff is also the loving alien brother of Magenta who is in disguise. Later in the show we see that Riff Raff and magenta get aggravated with Frank's behaviour and  demand control over the project.

Magenta: In the other trusty alien companion of Frank who we also learn is in disguise. She seems to get by with Colombia being her acquaintance and room mate but has enough of the for filling Frank's duties towards the end.

Columbia: Personifies a groupie of Frank and his work. However its later discovered that she was also an admirer of Eddie as well along with being friends with Magenta but is later killed by her. 

Dr Frank'n Furter: Is the conductor of the whole plan of action however throughout the show we start to see changes in his intentions for example his objectives with Brad and Janet such as challenging their relationship and his sexual desires with Rocky.

Rocky Horror: Is an ignorant and arrogant creation who shares a brain with Eddie created Frank. He was created for experimental sexual purposes. Though during time of his growth he happens to gain feelings for Janet and struggles to maintain  loyalty to Frank but eventually gives in for his devotion to Frank.

Eddie: Is an enthusiastic, reckless, and chaotic associate of Frank and his gang. He comes out of hiding revealing that he has unfinished business with his dear Colombia but is later killed by Frank.

Dr Scott: Is the professor and uncle of Eddie, who is on the pursuit to find his nephew and unlock the mischief's that Frank is up too.

A lot of us were not aware of the musical so our tutor played us the live show from You-tube.

By watching these videos were not only able to understand the story but to see what type characters were up on the table.

From watching this I had some Ideas of what I wanted to audition for. My first choice was Dr Frank ‘n’ Furter originally played by Tim Curry. This is because after watching the musical in lesson I felt that his character impacted the most not just the musical but to the audience too. His character made think that I would probably enjoy playing him especially if we would be rehearsing a lot.

Other characters I thought that I would like to play in case were Rocky and Eddie / Dr. Scott because I loved watching the boldness of Rocky and Eddie’s character on stage that I think I could deliver on stage. But to get this role I had to prepare a presentation to pitch what role I wanted on stage and off stage.

As a person who doesn't act or like acting I think these are big roles but this would be a big step for me. Were given the task to prepare a monologue and a song to audition for the roles we wanted to have. As someone who's never auditioned for a role before I knew that this needed to make a good impression. I wanted my monologue to relate all three characters. So I searched online and found a monologue from a small cast played "the little dog laughed " a male character called Alex.

To prepare for this monologue I watched videos of people performing it to understand how to deliver the performance.

I felt that for my audition I could've rehearsed in front of an audience more because I was really nervous this resulted in me messing up my lines and having to make up what it was or what I remember of it. I have never auditioned for a role before especially a big one so this was important. I tried to remind myself that these are the people I have worked with for so long and have nothing to worry about. But I think what went well was that I was able to deliver and I was strong enough to set a tone of what I want but I feel like if I rehearsed a lot I could've delivered it better.

My response after my audition was that I needed to work on nerves, memory, know my lyrics better, show change in emotion, use more gestures in emotional song, pace my self, pronounce better, carry on without asking to restart and to stay in my zone when singing.

Section one 

 Throughout the past seven units I fell that I've improved confidence skills, this means although I may receive nerves I'm able mainly to at least perform on a satisfactory level with the appropriate projection skills which has also be a prime imperfection of mine.

To be able to overcome this issue I analyzed and observed my peers and watched videos of me performing.

Then lastly my characterisation skills have been struggle mainly because I'm not an experienced actress and is required to be at the same level on as my peers.

I believe that from when started in September my flaws seemed to have excel into sharpened and exceptional correction instead of easy, petty ones such as remembering moves, ques, organisation skills. I feel that my mindset especially has enhanced into a trained and matured individual. This is the main reason why I believe that I am mentally and actually prepared for the responsibility.

Section two 

For this unit we have been give the opportunity conduct our production of "Rocky Horror ".This means we are in charge of the acting, dance routines, characterizations, costumes, set and props. This comes along with working with the Technical and Advertising team.

Our aims in this project to gain knowledge of everything that goes into a show or production to better our decisions and actions in the future and to also improve our flaws from the past and to showcase our new or current strengths .

 To take this challenge as a class we each have the  responsibility of  researching characters, themes and the assignments given to us. The way we research it is our own decision but we must always be prepared for the lesson ahead. I will be using online research to help me along the way.

In this production I have been given the chance to work with Tilia who will be playing 'Janet ' for the song "Touch me ", Ella who be playing 'Frank ' for the songs "Make you a man "and the whole cast for "Sword of Damocles " (choreographed by Ghazal) and "Rose tint/ Floorshow " choreographed by myself. 

Section three 

In this production I intend overcome my repetitive mistakes such as forgetting words and next action when nervous by staying focused in rehearsals as well as practising a lot so that my mind doesn't go blank. Lastly listening the feedback I receive and applying it to my work.  

From the last production it seemed some of the research I used had worked well when choreographing. Although I remember it being stressful to do mainly because I wasn't mentally prepared for the hardship it caused me and my peers I feel that I'm motivated to do it again because overall I enjoyed it so much.

Just like before I intend on jotting my decisions' and feedback on my notes and documenting my progress by filming.  

I intend on using Youtube as a primary source of research because it provides me the ability to visualise my ideas and inspiration for choreography and acting.  My second source will be Rocky Horror fan cites such as 'Rocky Horror Wiki " for knowledge purposes and photography that can be used on my blog. My other plans are to use Films such as 'The Rocky Horror Picture show " (1975 and 2016 version) and programs to play part in my research because it will allow me to extend my knowledge on musical theatre as whole.

MY RESEARCH ON ROCKY HORROR CONTEXT

The Rocky Horror picture show is based on the musical production written by Richard O'Brien who actually acted in it as Riff Raff. It's a humours tribute to science fiction and horror B movies of the late 40's and early 70s and the LGBT movement at the time. Richard had been let go of his last job when first wrote the song 'Science Fiction '. It had been just a song or some what an idea at first but after performing it to a number of people and receiving positive feedback he decided to expand it into more songs and then later wrote out some music. 

After visiting and show in London Lou Alder, the producer had suggested moving it to America and shortly after deciding to make a film they were introduced to the Director Jim sharman.
